Unlike most teenagers who hated having a summer job, and stalled until the last minute before they headed off to the grind, Chogan was the rare sort that actually liked his job. Even if he was glorified secretary/janitor, he didn't mind the work. Inkantation was a place he actually felt safe in and somewhere he knew he wasn't going to get in trouble with his sister or uncle. With his dad constantly working and rarely home, Chogan hated being home alone. Reminded of what used to be in those cramped trailer walls. He didn't want to be trapped with the memories of her.
He was bright and early like normal. Parking his bike out back he wandered in and got to work taking out the trash. He came back in and sprayed down the stations with disinfectant, putting everything in the order Dahlia usually preferred it before walking down the street to the cafe and then coming back in with Dahlia's coffee (not required by her of course, but it was Cho's way of silently thanking her for what she did.) He left it on the counter and then wandered to the front where he usually greeted customers from behind the counter that was his usual perch.
He did a quick scan of the books, seeing she didn't have an appointment for another hour, he hopped down from the stool and went to get his backpack. Digging out the sketchbook and rolled up pencil case he went back to his spot and plopped back down again, flipping the book open to the page he'd started last night and got the basic outlines at least done.
He opened his photos on his phone then and tapped the last one. Blowing up the image he'd taken secretly of Kit, from where she laid on the ground, pointing her camera up a the ceiling. It was a good shot if he did say so himself, and he was eager to put graphite to paper and draw a replica of the photo. Setting his phone beside the sketchbook, he put his headphones on. Tuning out the rest of the world as he got to work with his shading. His eyes flickering back and forth frequently, however, he found his eyes staid on the photograph. You couldn't tell who the girl was in the photo, as Chogan had been behind her, but he knew what she looked like, and she'd been a reoccurring thought in his mind. He picked the phone up, gently running his thumb over the top of her head as a perplexed look crossed his face.
It was art, wasn't it? No one would know it was her unless he told them, and for a moment, he took some pleasure in knowing she'd be his little secret. The new girl that had intrigued him since he first caught her trespassing. A more cynical thought occurred to him that she wouldn't be interesting when she realized how much of an asshole he was came to light, but he tried to focus on the fact she'd said the jury was still out. That had to account for something right? He pursed his lips, and let a loud sigh out, setting the phone back down before he went back to his drawing.

Living in the apartment right above the shop, normally she would hear her young apprentice when he made it to work- and on time more often than not, she noted. When she had first hired him, Dahlia had some doubts if she were to be honest. But there was something about the boy that she believed in, and the other part that she wanted to help. And ever since then, he's been the young brother she never had...whether he liked it or not.
Today, however, she was already out early. Dee liked to walk Brewster before work if the day was nice, and today was the perfect overcast day and not terribly hot. And her loving familiar was more than grateful to get out for a bit.
Soon, the two were practically trotting into the shop. Unclipping Brew as the door jingled and shut behind her, the doberman went over to greet Chogan as she hung the leash up. "Hey, kid," she greeted before realizing he had his headphones on. A couple of steps closer, she peered over the front desk to take a look at what he was up to before he could notice and possibly try to cover it up. Her brow rose in curiosity.

Lost in the world of shading, Chogan didn’t hear Dahlia when she initially came in, but it was when Brewster came over nudged his leg, that he realized she’d come in. His free hand reached down to scratch the Doberman’s head behind the ears. Murmuring a quiet hello to the dog. He might not be the greatest with people, but Cho actually liked animals for the most part. Maybe it was the shifter side of him that just felt more comfortable around them.
He mindlessly petted the dog while his other hand continued to work. He caught Dahlia’s shadow and he paused, glancing up to see her peaking at what he was working on. Since she probably didn’t know Kit, he didn’t feel as embarrassed as he could have, so he let her look for the moment before he reached up to pluck out one of his earbuds. “Sup, boss.” He said. Patting Brewster on the head one more time before he rubbed his hand on his thigh and brought his arm up so he could lean on it. “You have an appointment in-” He checked the time on his phone. “Forty-five.” He informed her. “Re-work I think.” He informed her before looking back down at his drawing and started shading again. Unable to help himself as he wanted to continue working on it.
