Poor Cameron. Poor poor baby Boehm, Yura nearly, nearly felt bad for the boy. But what did he expect when he was practically chauffeuring a car full of women? If you asked, her he couldn’t act at all surprised. Especially when she practically climbed to the front seat to take control of the radio to turn the music UP as they finally pulled off to the parking lot of the state park that would act as their day outing.
Nicki Minaj’s Starships was soon blaring out, and with it, Yura started to sing at the top of her lungs.
Uh, let's go to the beach-each Let's go get a wave They say what they gonna say Have a drink, clink, found the Bud Light Bad bitches like me is hard to come by
She nudged Valentina beside her, as the two had claimed the middle of the minivan as their own, and leaned back to rest her head on her best friend’s shoulder as she belted up to the ceiling. She could see Cameron rolling his eyes from the front seat, but she didn’t have to hear it to know he was laughing at her. She reached for the side handle then, yanking the sliding door open, and then let her tall lanky frame, rise out of the opening, throwing a hand up in the air as she serenaded the world.
Making goofy facial expressions as she hopped down, and then immediately started to dance as she kept on singing. Not caring one bit if she was looking like a weirdo as she practically jumped up and down in the parking lot.
Starships were meant to fly Hands up and touch the sky Can't stop 'cause we're so high Let's do this one more time, oh
She twirled around and caught the shine of metal in the sunlight, and instantly her demeanor changed as she made a face. Seeing all too familiar motorcycles and a head of dark brown hair that matched her own. She hadn’t wanted to play babysitter to her big brother, but she supposed he was a big boy (though still an idiot) and could survive without her unless he decided to do something stupid like drown himself in the ocean.
The Pahre kids needed one day off away from home, and Yura had full intentions of enjoying it. As if she hadn’t seen her brother and his friends, she jumped right back into her singing and dancing while she moved to the back of the van to help unload. When the music abruptly stopped she immediately made a sound of offense. “Cameron Boehm, you did not just kill the groove!” She called.

Cameron fully knew what he was getting into, and if anyone needed an ice breaker, knew how to make someone feel welcome, and overall have a good time, he could count on Val and Yura for that. His eyes had flickered to the review mirror several times on the drive over, as well as flickering over to the person riding shotgun more than once. It was nice to have Eleni back, but something seemed...off. And he couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but her scent had changed since she’d been away. He didn’t think she was a mythic, and he wasn’t the sort to just ask her, but he was definitely curious about it. He almost wondered if he should ask Cal about it the next time he saw him. Not that he wanted Cal to go around sniffing teenage girls, but- It was a thought. Maybe he was just overthinking it. Yura and Val of course were the perfect entertainment, especially when they hijacked the radio, and Cam practically yelled at Yura when she unbuckled to come forward to turn the music up when Nicki came on, but he decided to let it slide since they were in the parking lot, and his speed was decelerating. The little show she put on was certainly entertaining and he glanced over at Eleni as Yura jumped out of the van. “She hasn’t changed much since you went away has she?” He laughed. Letting Yura have her little boogy session for a few minutes longer before he turned the ignition off. Her cries of offense were something he expected and he shook his head as he climbed out of the van his mother had so graciously allowed him to borrow for their little beach trip. “I’m sorry! You can groove all you want on the sand, we came for a beach, not a parking lot, yeah?” He asked, throwing that charming grin of his at her as he shut the door. “Yeah…” He heard her grumble, and he snickered making his way towards the back so he could take the cooler. Live life to the fullest. Live it like it was her last day.
That was what she was trying to tell herself and make herself do ever since returning home. What else could she do at this point? Fret and research until she finally dropped? That wasn't living, she realized, and it was precisely why she agreed to go to the beach and be with her friends. She wanted to be happy, she wanted to smile...and yet she was still struggling to do so as they hit the road in Mrs. Boehm's minivan.
Eleni was slowly drawing her dark hair over her shoulder as fingers absently twisted the strands into a braid; her eyes focused on the scenery outside the window as it flew by. It was only when Yura threw herself up front for a moment to change the radio that her concentration was broken.
Attention followed her back to the middle row, watching as she and Val enjoyed themselves, belting out the song like they didn't have a care in the world. She wanted that, she wanted to feel that free. For now, the scene managed to bring a sincere smile to her face, briefly flickering her gaze all the way back to Malaika until they were pulling into a spot.
'She hasn't changed much since you went away has she?'
It was Cameron's voice breaking through the music and her thoughts, and brown eyes blinked when they looked over to him. After a second, she shook her head with a little chuckle, "Not at all." And she was glad for it. She was going to need this sort of thing.
Climbing out and shutting the door, she was following the others to the back of the van when she, too, heard the telltale sounds of the bikers. Squinting against the sun as she turned, she spotted the delinquents riding into the parking lot, and she smirked. There wasn't necessarily anything funny about it, but she did find it interesting that even they came to beach day. It was a tradition in Xander's Cross, or so she was told, and this would be her first one.
Reaching for her own bag, she waited to see if there was anything else she could help carry.

"Aww yesss!" Val yelled when she recognized the song coming on. Automatically she shoved her waterbottle into the seatback pocket and threw her hands into the air to sing along with her friend.
Uh, let's go to the beach-each Let's go get a wave They say what they gonna say Have a drink, clink, found the Bud Light Bad bitches like me is hard to come by
She laughed through her singing as Yura's head dropped onto her shoulder, and she brought a hand to her mouth as if she were holding a microphone as they continued to sing along. She watched Yura scramble out and laughed at her dance moves, loving every minute of it. Val hauled herself out of the car, too, planning to catch her friend by the hand and get her to dance with her, but the music cut out just as she did.
"Booooo!" she complained, turning a pout on Cam. Rude much?
She continued to pout, heaving a dramatic sigh as she stomped her way to the back of the car, her foam-wedge flip flops clapping loudly against her bare feet with each step.
"Maybe I wanna party the whole time," she grumbled, then wound up giggling as she helped drag a cooler out of the back.

Mal sat in the farthest back row of the van, on the bench seat, alone. She had been reluctant to come in the first place, but she did like the beach, and it was a chance to get out of the house before she screamed at somebody. Again. So she'd given in after less argument than she would have liked.
Now, though, in the car, watching the sporty girls sing along to the music, and the sea rising on the horizon, she could feel the stitches on her broken heart starting to come loose. Of course, Mal knew all the songs to the words, too--she loved Nikki Minaj. But she couldn't sing along alone. Watching Val and Yura, it was like she was looking back in time at herself and Mariah. They'd been happy like that, listening to the radio and acting like idiots. It seemed like a long time ago. More than just a few weeks.
Her lips moved to the words, but she didn't make a sound.
She was a little relieved when Cam turned off the music as she, too, climbed out of the car. The other girls were already grabbing things out of the back, so she hovered to the side a little, not wanting to get too close. Should she carry something? Surely she was stronger than these two, even though she could smell the animal blood in them too. She didn't recognize it the way she did with Cam--he was easy. A wolf, like her. He made that stupid pack-bonding instinct of hers sing. The girls, though, they smelled...different. Not bad, necessarily. Just different. She wanted to know, but she sure as hell wasn't going to ask.
So she just crossed her arms over her chest and waited with a scowl.

Much like Val, Yura also made a show of wiggling her body and pouting like a toddler while she made her way to the back of the van. The moment Cam had it opened, she was reaching for the soccer ball she’d brought. Because what else would the soccer mom van have if not a soccer ball? Besides that, Yura rarely went anywhere without a ball. She turned and bounced it on the pavement, and then immediately got a knee under the down coming ball, as she started to juggle. “Cam just wants to hog Nikki all to himself,” She commented, sticking her tongue out at him before grinning, and then focusing her attention on getting the ball back in the air without touching it with her hands or letting it hit the pavement.
Only went it hit her knee at a wrong angle and went too far out of her range, did she move. Using those cougar-like reflexes she quickly snatched it out of the air as it bounced on the pavement before it could roll away from her. When she turned back around, Cam already had the main cooler down and sitting on the pavement. She walked up behind Malaika then, the new girl Cam had invited. Yura wasn’t sure what to make of her yet, as she seemed pretty quiet and distant, but if they were spending all day together she wanted her to at least feel welcome. “What he doesn’t know is we’ll get him back later.” She paused to lean down to whisper to her in a conspirator tone before she did her best evil villain laugh as she weaved her way in to grab her duffle bag. Slinging it over a shoulder as she tucked the ball under her arm. She caught Cam’s roll of his eyes as he tried to keep that smile off his face, but he failed miserably.
Aside from the coolers, and the teen’s personal items they’d brought, there wasn’t a whole lot to carry, and thankfully, it could all be done in one trip. She grabbed the other side of the cooler Val had, and helped pick it up when she was ready and then shot her a sly look. “You may have taken away our radio Boehm, but you can’t take away our voices,” She burst into maniacal laughter then as she started to start singing where the radio had left off at.

Cam pulled the cooler out with ease. Feeling his muscles contract with the action as he sat it on the ground and then started passing out bags for their owners to grab. Like most mothers, Dana Boehm had prepared her boy for his day at the beach with his friends. And like most wolf mothers, and knowing there were at least three were’s in the group, she’d packed enough snacks, sandwiches, and drinks to feed a small army. He grabbed his backpack, pulling it on before he reached for the guitar case, but then hesitated. He’d brought it on a whim, but now was wondering if he should just leave it. He chewed on his lip for a moment, the others forgotten at least in that second, and his brows furrowed slightly in his contemplation before he grabbed the strap and pulled it over his head. Adjusting his hold, there was one more tote to take, mostly with the essentials of first aid kit, towels, sunscreen, and the other “needed” items his mom had thrown together for him.
He’d hand that to whoever wanted to take it, and then was reaching up to close the hatch as Yura’s evil laugh filled the air, and her continued singing filled the air. Without Nikki to drown her out, Yura’s voice filled the air, and for a moment there was a spark of envy in his chest. Yura and Val were both really good singers whether others realized it or not, and had confidence he didn’t. He mostly hummed whenever they played anything, and he always grew incredibly shy at the prospect of singing in front of other people. Sidney and Cal were the only ones he’d dared to sing in front of, and Cal finding out he could sing had been a pure accident as he’d walked up on Cam at one of their practices sessions and he hadn’t known he was there.
Cal wanted him to play at a fair, and he couldn’t even sing in front of his friends? He was going to be a hot mess… He was gripping the strap to his guitar hard enough his knuckles were white, and for a brief moment he realized he was suddenly getting an anxiety attack. And for what? Because his friends were enjoying themselves and he couldn’t relax enough to let himself join along with them?
Pathetic…
Not wanted the girls to know anything was wrong with him he sighed, and shook his head in exasperation at the girl’s antics, and grabbed the handle to the cooler, prepared to start wheeling it himself.

It was certainly going to be difficult to remain glum when the others were singing, dancing, and smiling like crazy. That definitely helped keep a smile upon her own features as she gladly took the tote with the extra essentials and slung it over her shoulder.
Eleni drew in a long, deep breath, forcing herself to calm her nerves. She was here to have fun, and although her father had been worried to let her go, he knew she needed this. She needed this more than anything. If she could stop thinking about her plight for even five minutes, it would be a victory, and she prayed a day at the beach would do just that.
Giggling at Yura's antics, she bent down to pick up the other side of that cooler so Cameron wouldn't have to drag it across the sand when they got to it.

Val laughed again at her friend's antics, thrilled that she wasn't letting anything stop her from having fun. She sang along with Yura as they picked up Starships where they'd left off, adding a few dramatic flourishes here and there along with a smattering of laughter.

Mal accepted the bag she was handed, which crinkled loudly--several bags of salty snacks were apparently inside. She'd wound up with the lightest thing. Had they done that on purpose? Surely Cam knew she could handle carrying more than that…
She was puzzling over it when Yura whispered in her ear, making her jump. She shot the girl a dirty look and stepped closer to the van. She was glad when the two sporty chicks headed off toward the sand with their bags. She looked to Cam instead and saw the way he was clutching that guitar strap. The anxiety had only crossed his body and face for a moment, but Mal caught it.
She stepped forward almost aggressively to take the handle of the cooler from him. It was just an instinct to help him with that since she couldn't help him with whatever was bothering him--she hardly noticed she was doing it.
"We'll get it," she told him, her tone leaving no room for argument. She nodded to the girl who had the other side. "Right, Eleni?"
