[From Archived site]
The twirling toothpick came to an abrupt halt and Kale’s face fell. What. What? Did she not know what he was talking about? He found himself leaning forward, his head turning slightly while he held a finger up and he closed his eyes. His brows furrowed. “Wait wait wait, let me get this straight.” He said, his eyes opening and his finger unfurled and his hand made a stopping like motion.
He fixed his dark eyes on Josie like she’d sprouted a second head. “You’ve never seen Home Alone? Kevin McAllister? It’s a Christmas classic!” he exclaimed like it was some great crime she’d never seen it. “It airs every year!” He exclaimed. Not believing his ears. He leaned back in his seat, rubbing his eyes. Before he sighed. “Okay, we’re dealing with this sleeper demon, and then we’re watching that movie, I’m not taking no for an answer. It’s a travesty!” He told her bluntly. He shook his head again in disbelief and then sighed.
Staring long and hard at Josie. “Okay, here’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to trap the bastard, and you’re going to have to be bait.” He started. “If we trap it, we can possibly hunt down the culprit who summoned it to begin with.” He explained. Decided right then and there, that he was bored enough that he’d deal with this mess purely for the fact it gave him something to do.

Wow, alright, he was really worked up about that. A holiday movie? Really? This from a man with a Russian accent who kept a toothpick in his mouth like he was in a hard-boiled detective movie? Josie stared at him blankly.
"I don't celebrate Christmas," she answered dryly. After all, if you believed the Christians, she was damned anyway, and stopping this sleeper demon wouldn't save her. Or, if you asked some other Christians, they may tell you that she didn't have a soul to fear for in the first place. You could see why Josie didn't place much stock in religion. Perhaps the gods and goddesses who helped their witches might be a little better, but she didn't see why that ought to change the way she lived her life.
kay, here’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to trap the bastard, and you’re going to have to be bait.” He started. “If we trap it, we can possibly hunt down the culprit who summoned it to begin with.”
She couldn't decide if the use of the word "we" was reassuring, or concerning. She certainly did need help, but somehow welcoming Kale into her home seemed like a poor life choice. Especially if he intended to force her to watch Christmas movies, of all things. But then, did she really have a choice? Unless she wanted to die a terrible death, she was going to need whatever help she could get. And for the moment, that was this very strange man in her office, who seemed almost excited to be dealing with this problem.
Ironically, having to serve as bait didn't bother her. She'd been doing that already, hadn't she? The only part that would change was that now they were going to fight back.
"Alright," she agreed, nodding dutifully. "I assume we'll need some supplies for that?" She took a notepad from her desk and a pen, preparing to write down anything he requested. "I can tell you now, I don't keep any salt in the apartment. I'm allergic. So we'll probably need that."

The fact Josie didn’t celebrate Christmas didn’t bother Kale like it might have, and it didn’t matter if you did celebrate it or not, it was a fun Christmas movie about a kid causing a little chaos. What wasn’t to like? Though maybe only creatures of chaos enjoyed it…
The half-fae was going to have to learn quick, that letting Kale Roemer into her life in any shape of form was a poor life choice. A harbinger of chaos, the werewolf practically brought trouble with him even if he didn’t intend to. Bad things just always seemed to happen when he was around, and from an early start, the man had been dealt a rough hand. It was a matter of perspective though. You either loved or hated him, there was no in-between when Kale was involved.
He sat up a bit straighter as she agreed, that wolfish grin appearing on his face as the toothpick picked up it’s twirling habit once more. The gears were turning in his mind, and he’d have a lot to prep for before hand…
“Let me take care of the list.” He told her quickly. “I can get it probably far faster and easier then you can.” He told her. “You have more important things to worry about.” He arched his brows at her and tapped his fingers on the cushions of the chair before he stood. Digging his phone out of his pocket he opened up the calender to check the dates, counting… “That jar is only going to last for about two more days. It’ll come for you on the third night.” He mused, closing the phone and shoving it back in his pocket. “And when it does, we’ll be ready. You just have to sleep.” He grinned then, as he started doing his mental checklist.

" It’ll come for you on the third night."
Josie couldn't stop the chill that ran down her spine, but she did manage to downgrade the shiver her body tried into a more subtle adjustment of her shoulders. She couldn't help wishing this was all just a figment of her imagination or some unfortunate side effect of a human/fae offspring inheriting madness.
"Something tells me that sleep won't come so easy now that I know what's coming," she answered with a look on her face like she'd just bitten into something rotten. She sighed afterward, resetting herself back to a calmer posture and expression. There was no use whining--she was going to have to deal with this whether she liked it or not. And really, wasn't that better? She'd begun to prefer confrontation over making herself invisible. Wouldn't it be satisfying to know they'd eliminated the threat completely? She would have preferred to solve the problem herself, but she knew better. She'd have to invite Kale, whatever he may be, into her home.
"Well, then I suppose all I can do is wait. Do you need the address? Or shall I assume you have sniffed that out the same way you did my workplace?"

Kale shrugged. "It'll be dealt with, you can sleep better knowing that." He pointed out. He didn't want to ask her if she was scared, knowing it would make him seem like an ass. Not everyone could be as brave as Kale. Though Kale's mindset and what made him stare down everything was knowing he was the most dangerous in the room. Either that or his ego was so large, it blinded him from the real threats. Moving on...
At her question, he smirked, stifling a laugh. "It's a small town Sugar, it didn't take long at all to find you." He pointed at. Not wanting to give away the fact he did in fact sniff her out... But she needn't know that.
He moved towards the door then. Placing a hand in his pocket while the other gripped the toothpick, pulling it out so he could gesture towards her with it. "I'll be in touch." He told her, and then left it at that. Leaving before she could say anything else. He didn't need her number, and he wasn't going to give her his. It was too dangerous. Nah, he'd let her squirm and anticipate when he showed up. But when he did, she wouldn't be able to fault him. He'd be prepared...

"It's a small town Sugar, it didn't take long at all to find you."
He had a point. All he'd have to do would be to ask around for the lawyer with the strawberry-blonde hair and he'd be pointed in the right direction. So why didn't she believe that story?
"I'll be in touch," was all he said, and then he was gone.
"See you soon," she murmured to the door as it closed behind him.
