Cassie automatically positioned herself between Chogan and the others, ready to get in his face if she had to. She didn't care if he was bigger than her, or thought he was better, she'd kick his ass. And if she couldn't do it on her own, Toby would step in and remove him. She had no doubt they'd come out on top if push came to shove.
Chogan just drifted past into the arcade, though, and Cassie watched him go with cold eyes. She had a hunch that encounter would come back to haunt them--if only because everyone in town was sure to be curious about the new girl.
"And that's the town asshole, I presume?"
Cassie snickered as she turned back to Kit. "We're gonna get along just fine, I can already tell," she declared with a grin. "Chogan and Denali are always getting into trouble--or making it. They're not so bad, really, if you know how to handle them." She glanced back at the arcade door, debating if she wanted to go in and play anyway, or if it was better to keep the new girl away from Chogan. Knowing him, if the 'nerds' were in there too, he'd try to make something of it just to prove himself. She wasn't really into that idea.
"Nolan and I were going into the arcade to play, but if the freaking goon squad is in there, it might not be any fun. Joe won't throw them out unless they're getting really bad." She turned to Nolan. "You wanna go somewhere else? We could take Kit over to the Full Moon, really get her a milkshake. Or we could just go back to my place and play like, Mario Kart or something. I've got popcorn. And a bag of candy that weighs as much as Pickles."
A little late, she realized she hadn't made it clear Kit was invited. She looked to the other girl with an apologetic smile. "You too, Kit, obviously. Would your parents mind if you were over at my place? You could call them if you want. I bet my mom will wanna meet yours if she's a witch--she's the head of our coven, so she makes it a point to welcome all the new witches. She has like, gift baskets and everything. It's a bit extra, but hey, free stuff."
