-Basics-
Face Claim: Anna Popplewell
Name: Sabrina Findlay
Birth name: Torryn Sabrina Groves
Past Aliases: Torryn Smith, Torryn Baker, Brina Martin, Brina Hall
Age: 30
Gender: F
Species: Warlock (Demon Azazel Patron)
Height: 5'3
Fashion: When meeting with clients, Sabrina knows how to look clean and professional. At home or around town, however, when she doesn't think she's on display, she prefers graphic tees and other subtle fandom wear for her favorite heroines.
Physical Description: A petite woman covered in freckles with long, dark hair, and large blue eyes. She avoids eye contact with strangers and generally doesn't smile at them when she does meet their eye by accident. When left idle she plays with the ends of her hair, and her expression defaults to something almost sad.
-Personality-
Description: Sabrina is actually a spunky, fun-loving person, once you get past the purposefully harsh exterior. She doesn't trust strangers easily and tends to avoid unnecessary conversation or contact. After being bullied and teased in high school, she's decided that just not talking to people is safer. Around people, she trusts, however, she is chatty and humorous. She does tend to swear pretty freely, but never at people, more using the F word as an adjective. She never means any harm, it's just that after she moved out, she liked having the freedom to say what she wanted.
Sabrina has always loved the idea of a female hero, of being different from everyone else, special. But when her powers started to manifest at 16, she freaked. She's kept them hidden ever since and is convinced she's not the right person to be a hero.
With clients, Sabrina is cheerful and professional and willing to meet most requests, although she's gotten good at shutting down stupid ones. She's also very active on social media and keeps up with popular music, shows, and memes so that she's able to create new content and keep her followers--and therefore her commissions--up.
Habits/Hobbies: drawing, reading comics, watching netflix
-Background-
History:
Sabrina is the last remaining member of the Blight family line.
She was born Torryn Sabrina Groves, daughter of Demeter Blight. She and her mother lived a transient life until her tenth birthday, never staying in the same home for more than two years, never keeping the same last name for more than 5. Her mom, Demi, was the only stable thing in her life, and little Brina loved her more than life itself. Her mother used to tuck her into bed every night and tell her bedtime stories.
The stories were scary ones, about the Shadow Hunter who was tracking down every member of her mother's family, killing them one by one. Demi promised her daughter that she would protect her from that scary man, that she'd never let him find her. She always ended the story saying that no matter how scary the Shadow Hunter was, eventually he would have to stop, that the prophecy said he wouldn't be able to end the Blight family for good. She promised that Brina would be safe--because she was going to be the one that lived.
When Sabrina was ten years old, her mother committed suicide.
Sabrina never saw the body--her mother had called the police before pulling the trigger, and asked them to make sure her little girl was safe.
The little girl wasn't in foster care for long. She was well behaved and pretty, she followed all the rules, and her new family made sure she felt safe and loved. She actually did care about Dana and Jim, even if they weren't her mom. She grew up mostly happy and safe, but she never forgot the stories her mother used to tell.
It wasn't until high school that Sabrina began to wonder if her mother's stories were actually true. Shadows moved at the corner of her eye, little things moved and changed when she wasn't looking. It took her a few months before she started to actually see the little shadow pips at work. They moved her laundry to the hamper, packed her lunch, moved things out of the way so she wouldn't trip, caught things that she knocked over by accident. Whenever things rolled under her bed, they got spit right back out.
She'd always daydreamed about being special, but now that she knew she had her family's shadow magic following her...all she could think about was how that meant the Shadow Hunter was following her too. And she had no idea what to expect. Her family was gone, she didn't know which name was the real one, and she'd promised her adoptive parents she'd stop asking about her birth mother. She was stuck.
She hid her powers, hid her research. Not much was on the internet about her mother, just a paragraph in the Pittsburgh paper about a woman who shot herself while on the phone with 911. It would take more time, more footwork, to find her past. She started doing odd jobs around town, selling her art to classmates, running a tumblr to sell her art there, then an instagram, a twitter, every avenue she could get to build up her savings while still going to school. She was up late most nights, falling asleep at her desk. But it paid off.
After graduation, Sabrina got to work. She bought a camper van and set out to find the truth. She kept up her commissions whenever she could get internet, worked odd jobs wherever she settled for a few months while she did her research. Pittsburgh led to Lansing which led her all the way down to Houston, to New Orleans, which pushed her out to Colorado. She managed to find traces of her mother having moved from Chicago. She went there.
Finally, in Chicago, she found that her mother had been living under the name Samantha D. Bright. Samantha's parents were listed as Madeline and Gregory Bright...who had owned property in Xander's Cross, Oregon. When she called City Hall, the records keeper took two full weeks to get back to her, but when she did...well, it was startling news. The Brights had left their house in trust for their daughter, Samantha D. Bright...or her daughter, Terra-Lee Bright. The daughter had fingerprints and footprints on file for identification. Apparently, the Brights had been expecting the name changes.
And so, Sabrina headed back across the country, all the way to Oregon. Fingerprints confirmed it--she was the heir to the estate. Now she has a strange, spidery old Victorian house in a town she'd never heard of before last month, and room after room of mysteries to solve. She's not sure where to start, but she's determined to find the truth.
Family/Friends: Adoptive Parents Dana and Jim Findlay. No other living family (Birth parents: Demeter Blight and Andrew Groves)
Neighborhood: Old Town - recently inherited a house that had belonged to her biological grandparents under a false name
Secret: There are a host of little shadow "pips" that follow her around and do little tasks for her. They don't typically show themselves when others are around, unless Sabrina's guard is down.
