CHOGAN: Chogan was in a mood again. But what else was new? Dad was rarely home anymore, constantly working at the mines as the mining group people were in town now, and if you asked Cho, he thought they were working everyone round the clock. He wanted his Dad back. He wanted Shay’s nagging to stop, he wanted his uncle to stop looking at him with such disappointment every time he saw him. But most importantly? He wanted his mom.
He wanted to wake up to the smell of her making breakfast. To hear her gentle singing as she sang Isaneqwe lullabies like she used to do when he was a kid. The smell of her soap and perfume, that smile. He wanted it so bad it fucking hurt. It hurt so much. He’d lost his aunt several years ago as well. His cousin Jalen was motherless, and Chogan had a feeling his cousin knew what he was going through, just that neither of them wanted to talk about it. They were on different sides of the tracks so to speak. But the difference between Chogan and Jalen? Jalen’s mom hadn’t left him willingly.
The sound of a rattling spray can sounded in that abandoned building. Echoing off the cement walls. It used to be an automobile shop if Chogan had a guess, it was big and spacious, but there were tarps hanging, old leftover tools, dead leaves littered the floor. He was pretty sure a cat had made the old office her home, and Chogan was pretty sure the cat was pregnant. Only she wouldn’t let Chogan close enough to her to find out. But nothing cans of tuna by way of bribing wouldn’t change that up right quick. She was eating out of the can he’d opened a while ago, and he could tell she was watching him. He was giving her her space, however, and his bike had been rolled in through the garage door he’d jimmied open, and closed again.
He wasn’t sure how safe the building actually was, but he didn’t care. He was a hoodlum. A delinquent, and if his sister caught him one more time he was certain she’d let him sleep in a cell for the night. When he wasn’t working, riding his bike, or hanging out with Denali, Chogan was often in his room drawing half the time, or out finding a building to tag. It wasn’t the typical way of tagging though, no Chogan considered it art.
He’d been working on this wall for weeks, having to save up for the spray paint and finding an adult stupid enough to buy it for him, as the state had a stupid law about minors buying aerosol cans. He wasn’t dumb enough to get high off of paint. If he wanted to get high, he knew several weed dealers that could hook him up with the good shit.
Here in his little oasis of a building? He made art. nearly every room in the place had some sort of mural on it. Some of it was abstract, but most of it was of people, expressing different emotions. There was a black and white one of an African American screaming, with touches of red scattered in. Further down the hall was a child crying, and so forth. The emotions reflected a lot of what Chogan felt. Anger, despair, sadness. Nothing was happy, because he wasn’t happy.
He was working on loneliness at the moment. The person was crouched, knees tight to their chest with their head resting against their knees. Their arms were up protecting their head from some unseen source. His brows were furrowed as he worked. That perpetual pissed-off look, rarely left Chogan’s face, but when he worked it was more of a concentrated one. His face was serious and harsh, but only because he felt the emotions he was bringing to life through the paint.
He had earbuds in his ears, playing his music so he couldn’t hear anything, and he wore a respirator to protect his lungs from the paint fumes. He set the black spray paint down, and reached for the white one, setting himself on the dusty floor Indian style while he started to add highlights. Unaware that he and the cat would be getting a visitor.
KIT: Kit knew better than to be out here. It was technically illegal- she saw the signs, but despite not being labeled a delinquent by any means, she couldn't ignore a good abandoned or rundown building. She had photos from nearly every state her family had stayed in, going on a couple of years now.
At first, she had balked at the idea of getting a summer job, however, she was quick to realize that she could save up for a really good camera, a DSLR. She had a feeling her dad wanted to get one for her for Christmas, but they could be quite expensive, so if she saved for awhile, she might eventually be able to get one. For now, her old Polaroid camera and point-and-shoot would have to do.
Finding a low enough window in one of the back rooms, Kit carefully climbed herself up, wary of the broken glass. Shifting into the fox would have made sneaking in a lot easier, however, she wouldn't have been able to carry a bag of clothes as well as her camera. Regardless, she was still just as wily- her dad would have been proud.
Well, maybe not. She was breaking into somewhere.
The excitement suddenly overcame her as she saw the rundown hallway with its peeling paint and crooked picture frames. She had noticed the large garage and sign outfront, and it had once been an auto shop, perhaps even a small dealership at one point as well. The faded image in the closest frame was of an old Chevy truck, she noted, but what really interested her was the graffiti all over the place. It wasn't just obnoxious or crude words, but images. Art, if you were to ask her.
Snapping off a few photos, she wandered her way through carefully before the sound of something loud echoed through the abandoned place. Was that...spray paint? It paused Kit in her steps before her keen hearing thought she might have been picking up on a very faint sound of music, like it was muffled by something. A few more steps, she realized she was by the main office of the place, the sound of a spray can echoing again and she peered in through one of the windows.
Someone else was here, and she wondered if he was the one who had been leaving all the painted images everywhere. Kit watched for a long moment, wondering if she should just sneak back out.

That can rattled again, and then Chogan was leaning up on his knees. Taking some pieces of old newspaper or magazine pages that had been ripped out, he placed them on the wet paint he’d just laid down. Running the back of his finger quickly across it, before pulling it quickly away. Leaving behind an abstract texture on the paint beneath from some of the paint that had been pulled up.
He used another piece of a magazine and used it to block some of the spray from the white paint, using it to create a sharp edge as he then used the now damp piece of magazine to go in to do the finer details that were far more complicated to achieve with just the spray. His music continued to blare in his ears, and when he was finally satisfied with the lines of the persons clothes, he tossed the empty can over his shoulder. It clattered noisily against the floor, then he set aside the wet paper.
He wore latex gloves while he worked so paint wouldn’t constantly be on his hands and, he knee walked back a bit, before leaning back. Letting his butt hit the floor as he brought his knees up. He leaned backward, his long arms out at his sides to support him while he stared at the finished piece. His dark eyes taking in every bit of detail. Seeing the physical form of the emotion he felt nearly daily.
Loneliness was the biggest bitch of all.
Slowly he reached up and pulled the respirator off his face. The strap messed with his hair a bit, but he didn’t care. He tossed it towards the backpack that had his supplies in it, and sighed deeply as looked at the wall. Glaring with nothing but hate in his eyes, as his chest ached again. Wanting to lash out suddenly at anything or anyone. It wasn’t fair. Nothing in his life had been fair…
His thoughts were interrupted as a soft mew sounded, and then he felt the nudge of a small head on his forearm. As if that cat had known what he was thinking, and decided to remind him he wasn’t alone. She was there. Just like that, that tight tension in his shoulders slipped away, and glanced over his shoulder at the feline. He caught her green eyes and she meowed a little louder this time, and Chogan couldn’t stop the small smile that spread across his face as he slowly sat up more. Pulling the latex gloves off before he turned and held his fingers out for the cat to sniff. She bumped her head against his fingers, which he took as a sign he could pet her. “Took you long enough,” He murmured quietly, scratching the cat behind the back of her ears. Despite the angry emotions he felt, Chogan at least felt like he had some form of victory as the building’s resident seemed to realize he meant her no harm.

It was fascinating watching the stranger work. She didn't think it was possible to achieve such detail simply with spray paint, and she couldn't help but wonder if he used this artistic talent elsewhere. You know, as in not defiling the walls of private property? Even still, it made her pause to see the figure on the wall come to life. Whoever this artist was, he did his job- there was something about the image that made her heart drop a little.
Kit startled a bit as he tossed the one can aside before leaning back to admire his work. She bit down on her bottom lip, knowing she should just sneak away. There was plenty of other times to sneak back in here to take some photos...but one more wouldn't hurt.
Banking on him being unable to hear with those earbuds in (considering he'd likely have heard her already), Kit brought that camera up, angling it in through the broken glass of the office window so that it only softly diffused the foreground. In the background, crisp and clear, was the masked boy sitting there in front of his artwork. She snapped the photo, the camera's flash not going off but there was a soft beep and the sound of the shutter. Okay, now it was time to go.
She stilled when he removed the respirator, and she immediately recognized him as the kid from the arcade, the one that made Nolan very uneasy. The "asshole of the town" as she had instantly dubbed him. Well, shit.
'Took you long enough.'
That made her panic, as if she thought he was aware of her presence the entire time. It was only then that she noticed the cat and his affection towards it. Kit had been so absorbed in the moment, that she hadn't even smelled the stray. Now it made her nose scrunch up a little.
Something about this entire situation made her curious, but she had to force that foxlike manner away and leave. If this kid was as bad as everyone seemed to think he was, it wasn't a good idea for her to be here. So, taking a couple steps back, worn Converse scuffed against some pieces of glass, which in turn made her gasp in alarm, especially when some snapped beneath her weight. She cringed, not feeling very stealthy at the moment, and figured she'd rush back down that hall the way she came.

Chogan gave the stray calico soft strokes on her head, and over her back. He hoped she'd let him close enough to get a good look at her tummy to see if she was pregnant, or if she was just a chunky stray. He turned around more, drawing his legs in close as the cat got closer, and he took both hands and slowly and carefully picked her up under her front legs. Using one of his hands to keep her up, while he dipped his head down to look at her stomach while she stayed standing on her back legs. "Easy Kitty just wanna see if your gonna be a momma." He murmured before he took his other hand and gently touched her flank before his long fingers reached lower.
The cat suddenly tensed, and her head whipped around to look at something outside of the room. Chogan froze, reaching up to pull an earbud out and he could hear the faint crushing sound of glass being stepped on. "Shit," He muttered under his breath, thinking he'd been caught. He set the cat down, and yanked out his earbuds, crawling over to his stuff where he quickly shoved it all in his backpack. He crawled over to the empty can and tossed it in as well before he was putting his backpack over his shoulders. He didn't hear his sister's telltale scold, or any authoritative voice demanding to know what he was doing. Which was a good sign in all honesty, as he hopped himself up off the floor into a crouch and moved towards the door to the hallway. He'd have to make noise to get his bike out, but he wanted to know who he was dealing with first.
Slowly he peered around the doorway, and saw a form running down the hallway away from him. It was a girl, he knew that much, and his guess was she'd been watching him paint, had either just got to the building, saw someone else was there and was getting out or something else. Either way, he was rushing to his feet and going the opposite direction, as he knew the building and knew there was a back door. His long legs carried him quickly out of it as he rushed to the front. Just in time to see the girl climbing out of that window. His pace slowed, and he crossed his arms over his chest. That glare on his face as he waited for her to make it completely out of the window.
Growing up in Xander's Cross, Chogan knew practically everyone by face if not name, and he didn't know this girl. Was she an out of towner? He didn't know if that made him more curious or pissed off given the fact he was a native. The moment she saw him, he wouldn't say anything, but rather raise a brow while he waited for her explanation.

If this was telling her anything, it was telling her that she needed to not only work on her social skills, but embrace her animal a little more. Normally foxes would flee at the sign of danger, so she had that part of it down, but she could be a little more graceful about it.
Shoving the camera into her sling bag, Kit rushed back down that hall and to the room where she had entered, hearing his footsteps somewhere behind her. They sounded as though they were growing distant, though, so perhaps he got spooked as well.
No, that was probably just her.
Tossing her bag out the window first, she was a lot more nimble with climbing out, landing in a slight crouch before rising up to her small stature. When she stood up to her full height, she jumped a bit in surprise to find him standing right there. She almost squeaked in alarm, but instead stood there like a startled doe with those big blue eyes.
Not-so-wily fox, indeed.
Lips parted as she sought for something to say. She also thought about just running as she slowly bent to retrieve her bag, slinging it across her chest. This guy was tall and certainly intimidating- she could see why many were wary of him. He was also cute if he got rid of that scowl every once in awhile, she fathomed.
"I, uh-" she stammered, straightening her back a bit. She dug a foot into the dirt as if ready to flee, her body tense. "I like your art...?" Kit didn't know why that came out like a question.

It took him a second as those big blue's fixed on him to realize he'd seen the girl before. It took him another moment to realize it had been outside the arcade several days ago and she'd been with Cassie and Nolan. Chogan's usual victims of taking his anger out on. She was certainly not from town, which made her an out of towner in his book. A cute out of towner, but he was going to keep that to himself.
She looked as skittish as a new foal, looking ready to bolt. Had the nerd parade told her about him? The town Delinquent. He didn't know if he should be flattered or not. But honestly...he didn't really care.
Her stammered out question? Or was it a compliment, had him raising both brows now. The glare slightly softened and instead it was a cool gaze as those dark eyes considered her. "Your not from around here." He stated the obvious, before his suspicion returned and he narrowed his eyes. Given the fact he was a native, and his own shifter at that, Chogan knew there were supernatural beings in Xander Cross. However unlike others, he didn't have good hearing or a sense of smell. But what he did have? Very good eyesight. He could see the tension in her body easily, poised to run if he so much as "boo'd" at her.
"You shouldn't be here," He nodded towards the building. She didn't seem the type of person to do well...what he did, but he could be wrong. But either way, he was there first and common curtesy was to find your own abandoned building to do whatever shit you wanted to in. At least that's what he thought. Mostly Chogan liked to be alone unless he was hanging with Denali.

Cassie and Nolan didn't have to say much for her to be able to see what this kid was like, or perhaps that was being stereotypical over his appearance. And the scowl. Still, she hadn't bolted. Maybe a bit of that curiosity was coming back.
As much as she was smart enough to stay out of trouble, usually, Kit was also making attempts at standing her ground. Traveling so much, it made her feel like running was always an option, or that it was the only option...and it wasn't. She knew it wasn't.
Even if this boy had a few inches on her.
Straightening her back a little, letting some of the tension ease away, she took a half step back; her hands gripping the strap of her back out of nervous habit. "No, I'm not. Just moved here." She could use short sentences too.
'You shouldn't be here.'
Blue eyes flickered back towards the building for a quick second before returning her attention back to him. "And neither should you," she said in return. Especially doing what you're doing, she nearly added but thought better of it. Getting somehow overly confident may not work in her favor.

So she was new in town huh? Which made what she'd been doing make a lot more sense in the way that she was probably exploring the place. To bad she stumbled into the asshole's den. The grumpy look never left Chogan's face as he watched some of the tension leave her body and she straightened up. Looking like she wasn't going to bolt anymore. Was she going to stand up to him? Tell him she would just be on her way? Or pick a fight verbally? He supposed it all depended on how much of a dick he wanted to be, but honestly she was the first interesting thing to happen all summer aside from the usual.
The real question was how soon it was going to take Chogan to ruin it, by being his self destructive self. He supposed he could at least humor her.
"And neither should you," A flicker of a smirk appeared on his face as he rolled back on his booted feet slightly. His posture relaxing a bit more, despite the fact his arms were still crossed over his chest. "Yeah, but ya see new girl, You're going to learn real quick I do a lot of things I shouldn't, and this building is already taken." He pointed out. It was taken at least for now. That is until he moved onto the next one.
He moved then, slowly at first as he made his way towards that garage door. Taking his backpack off, he set it down as he had to jimmy the door a certain way to get it open. "What are you doing here anyway? Nolan and Cassie tell ya horror stories that you had to check out for yourself?" He asked. Letting her know he remembered her from the other day talking to the two of them. He was also curious as to why she was here and what she'd been doing before the cat had noticed her. Was she really just looking around? It would mean she'd certainly seen some of his stuff, and his artwork wasn't something he talked about to anyone except for Dahlia and that was when he wanted her opinion.

The logical part of her brain was telling her to just go and try to come back at a different time...but she was here now, and why couldn't they just avoid each other while she snapped a few photos? That was all she wanted. This building was interesting, a mix of history and the present with all the spray paint upon the walls, all the art. She could stay out of his way, honestly.
At his smirk, her chin lifted just a tiny bit higher as if she was proud of that comeback...and then her expression was faltering a little. "The name's Kit," she chided lightly. "And I can bet that you don't have any real claim here, even if you've decorated the walls." Hmm, maybe she should tone it back a little? She let out a little huff of a sigh at herself.
Bright eyes watched him move to the garage door, only taking a few steps after him before he was asking that question. Kit hesitated, and she didn't really know why because she wasn't embarrassed about being caught here. "I, uh-" She fidgeted a little bit, a hand dropping to her bag to feel the camera that rested inside. "I like abandoned places...so I was gonna take some photos." This was when she might have rambled on about how she had a box full of prints and polaroids from several abandoned buildings around the States since her family moved around a lot...but, she couldn't help but feel like he'd just scowl at that, too.
"I'll stay out of your way...?" she attempted to bargain.

What kind of a name was Kit? Chogan suddenly wondered, but he also wondered if it was short for something else. "You're right I don't, Kit. But I was here first, and common courtesy is finder's keepers, losers weepers." he pointed out. Being difficult just to be difficult. it was a common thing for Chogan to push people's buttons mostly to get a rise out of them, but also because it gave him attention. Attention someone else should have been giving him.
He had to wiggle the door a certain way as well as carefully turn the handle at a certain angle or the latch wouldn't come up. Honestly, he should just fix the stupid handle to begin with so he wouldn't have this issue, but also liked the fact that if you didn't know how to open it, it kept you from just waltzing into the building. Not that there weren't other ways to get in, as demonstrated by the newbie...
He glanced over at her as she fidgeted, arching a brow with a soft glare on his face though there wasn't any hostility in it. He saw her hand touch her bag and then heard her say she liked abandoned places. He looked away from her, using a bit of force on the handle before it finally gave way. "So you like the things everyone forgets about." He pointed out pushing the door all the way up. He used one arm and raised it high above his head to guide the door upon its tracks. Given the fact it was summertime, he was dressed in jeans, and a buttoned-up flannel with its sleeves cut off. Showing a bit of wear and tear on both garments as his jeans had worn holes over his knee caps and the shirt had worn threads of fabric where the sleeves had been cut off.
He lowered his arm and walked into the shop, his bike was parked a few feet from the door, and it revealed the large space he'd been working in minutes ago. The stray cat sat there, expectantly waiting for him. He felt his chest puff up in victory that she hadn't runoff. At least someone liked him. "You can do whatever the fuck you want, I don't care." He called to the girl. He honestly didn't even though her initial visit had surprised him. "I'm not going to stop you." He glanced over his shoulder at her. "I don't own the building, remember?" He arched his brows to give her a pointed look, and then retrieved his back pack he'd left beside the door. Hoisting it up on a shoulder. "Just stay out of the way, and don't ask about it." He grumbled. Remembering she'd said she liked his art. Only he didn't want to talk about it, he merely wanted to create. "And be careful around the cat, she's skittish." He quickly pointed out as he headed back into the building. Going to a piece of wall that had had been down a bit further then the other piece he was working on.

A flicker of annoyance in those blues at his use of her name, like he was mocking her, but she didn't respond any other way. Instead, she huffed out a sarcastic laugh over his "finders keepers, losers weepers" comment. "I'm sorry, what're you, five?" Those words slipped out before she could even stop them. What happened to being quiet and shy, Kit?
She still didn't leave, simply standing there as she watched him to get that door open. For a second, she was half a mind to climb back in through that window and leave him to mess with the garage door while she had free roam of the building. He certainly couldn't fit in through that window easily.
'So you like the things everyone forgets about.'
For some reason, that made her stop, remaining quiet for a moment too long. "Yeah, I suppose. There's a weird beauty in something so sad," she said, her attention drifting over the building's exterior. What she didn't say was that it was also kind of comforting. She had her parents, she had her brother...but there were things the Greys didn't think she realized, and that was that her grandfather basically thought she was useless. She remembered little of the man, but she remembered feeling unloved in his presence, like she was inferior.
And with moving so much, sometimes Kit felt like she hadn't been able to figure out just who she was. Not really.
Hesitating for just a moment, Kit eventually followed the boy in through the garage door, noticing the bike almost immediately before he was talking...and being rude as fuck. Maybe she shouldn't be surprised. If she hadn't walked all the way over here on foot, she might have given up right then and there.
'I don't own the building, remember?'
Kit actually offered what could only be described as a snarky smile. "That's right, you don't," she clarified, with even more snark but kept her tone overly light and sweet. His kind tended to hate that sort of thing, she felt.
When he said to stay out of his way, she just threw her hands up in mock surrender. She already said she would, so, that was fair. It was likely that she wouldn't stay very long. At the mention of the cat, she had already pulled out her camera when she spotted the feline. Kit drew to a slow stop, regarding the creature with a gentle cant of her head because cats were sometimes iffy about her.
Dad liked to argue that, as a fox, they were more relatable to dogs, but some people might argue that they acted more like cats. Could be that her father just didn't like cats, but Kit found that some liked her, found her curious, and some didn't. She wondered what this one would do. But, for now, she made sure to keep her respectable distance as she moved back into the building.
It was back towards that office where she paused in the large, main area, spotting the streams of light filtering in through the ceiling, glinting off a puddle there on the cement floor. Already snapping a few photos from a couple different angles, she eventually wandered closer where she carefully dropped to her knees, deciding to lie back on the dirty floor so that she could get a perfect shot of the decaying ceiling.
She always found it fascinating to see how a human creation like this overcame nature, forced it out...only for nature to take back their world from the invader when humans no longer cared. Life finds a way.

Dark eyes were rolling very loudly at her, though he didn’t look at her. It wasn’t so much the snark, but the sweetness she added to it. As if she had to remind him that he didn’t own the place and was rubbing it in. Yeah yeah, buzz off girly…
He was neither happy nor sad when she decided to not talk anymore and he set about getting his cans out again. Staring at the piece he’d just finished while she wandered off and he placed his hands on his hips as he slowly walked towards it. Letting his eyes take in those details, trying to see if he wanted to add to it or not. That glare from before returned to his face, and an almost pained expression crossed his features. That was the thing about his art… He put so much emotion in it he always felt the emotion right back at him when he relooked at things. Loneliness always hurt the most…
"Yeah, I suppose. There's a weird beauty in something so sad," He thought about what Kit had said, and he wondered what she would have thought about this. Was this beautiful? Was this sad? His hands tightened on his hips as he clenched his jaw. He didn’t think it was beautiful. It was down right pathetic, and she was right about one thing. It was sad, and heartbreaking that someone could just leave the place and let it succumb to a husk of itself.
How long before Chogan was the same husk?
He realized he was thinking to much into her words, and let a deep breath out. Hearing the small beep of her camera going off in the building. He let his eyes wander towards where she’d gone through before and he found curiosity starting to eat away at him. Quietly he moved, being careful of where he put his feet as he navigated the building. Following the sound of the camera.
He slowly leaned his back against the door frame and leaned in, looking behind him to see Kit was on the floor, looking up at the ceiling. He slowly crouched down, not knowing why he was compelled to dig out his phone, but he quickly opened the camera up and held it out while she was facing away from him. She wasn’t the only artist in the building, and the image of her laying on the floor staring up at the ceiling proved to be an interesting composition as she held her camera up.
He lined his composition up, and quickly tapped the screen. Taking the pick before he turned and scooted away, quietly making his way back to the main room while he put his phone away. He moved towards where the mask was and pulled it on his face. He quickly found his earbuds and put them back in as well, getting his music situated before he dug around in his bag. Wondering what he was going to paint this time. The Cat came and settled next to his bag and he scratched her behind her ears, while his mind wandered to Kit.
An idea struck him, and he didn’t know if it would be weird or not, but he also didn’t think she’d be back again any time soon to the building. If he was even lucky, she’d leave before she saw it. Picking up his black spray can he gave it a shake and started to paint out the basic shapes of what he wanted.

Everyone had the ability to let themselves wither away into nothing, to be absorbed by the world around them if they didn't bother to try and claw their way out. Kit felt that on and off throughout all her young years, and never truly understood why. Maybe it was the feeling of not knowing the entire story with her family, like her parents were hiding something from her. Even Aunt Sol had seemed secretive at times.
Kit sighed, missing that woman, too, and she reached up with her free hand to clutch the necklace Isolde had made her. After a moment, snapping a few more photos, she simply stared up at the ceiling, not caring about the dirt that was coating her clothes. She thought she heard movement somewhere nearby, but when she turned her head to look, no one was there. Perhaps it was just the cat rushing by.
Another moment, she was climbing up to her feet, quickly brushing the dirt from her clothes and hair before she continued to wander around the building again. Kit was practically walking on her tiptoes, as if she was afraid she'd further irritate the nameless boy, wherever he was. Maybe he actually decided to leave. But no, she knew he was still nearby somewhere because her senses were all heightened involuntarily.
As she wandered, she saw more and more of the spray-painted drawings upon the walls, wondering if they were all his. The emotions behind them were heavy and raw, and she didn't know whether to feel pity or to admire them. Possibly both? One looked like despair, and there was this slight clenching around her heart. Another was clearly angry, then another...well, it was sad. She stood in front of that one for a few minutes longer, eyes roaming over every line and detail, listening to the sounds of a spray can echoing from somewhere nearby.
He was painting again.
Kit still took her time to explore, taking many photos and once again hoping for the day she could get herself a nicer, better camera. Eventually, however, she realized she was following the noises of the shaking cans back towards that office to find him in there again. This time, she casually leaned against the wall to watch through the window. She didn't say anything, she wasn't taking photos, just curiously watching despite what she had promised.
Then again, she was out of the way, so...

He’d become lost in his own world quickly again. The moment the can of spray paint was in his hand, he had entered the world of his mind. His face was full of concentration as he blocked out the shapes that were soon resembling what looked like two figures sitting with their backs against each other. A “wall” between them. Getting the actual forms of the silhouettes right took a bit, as he hadn't stenciled it on beforehand. He was completely free handing it with a can of paint, and several beads of the black paint dripped down the wall to the floor from how close he had to get to get the sharpness of the edges. He didn’t mind the beads though. In fact he actually liked the effect it gave.
He felt something brush against his leg, and he looked down to see the cat, intertwining herself between his legs. He hadn’t realized how much time had passed, but the basic forms of the figures were down, and when he stopped it looked like they were both holding things. He pulled an ear bud out of his ear and bent to pet the cat, quickly scooping her up despite her meow of protest. She didn’t fight him thankfully, and Chogan finally was able to do what he’d wanted to do once he realized the building had a cat.
She either had worms, or she really was going to have kittens he decided. He thought about taking her to the animal shelter to have Sunny look her over, but he’d need some form of carrier to put her in that he could carry with him on his bike. A cat in a backpack just didn’t sound pleasant…
Out of the corner of his eye, he could see a figure in the window of the shop, and he turned his head to see Kit was standing there, leaning against it. He realized she’d been watching him paint, and as a reflex his eyes narrowed before he turned away. Feeling self conscious suddenly. There was no way she could figure it out right? He wasn’t even done with the mural yet… He sat the cat down and was going to put his ear bud back in when he glanced over at the open garage door. Seeing down the gravel drive a bit to the building, he saw the telltale signs of a squad car driving back. “Shit,” He muttered. It had to be Shay. Had to be, and if it wasn’t then it was someone else that would likely drag his ass into the office and put him in the chair of shame in front of his uncle or sister.
Chogan didn’t think, he just moved. Shoving everything he could into his bag. “Cops!” He found himself calling over to Kit. Why, he didn’t know. But she was new, he figured he could be nice once, and at least give her a warning that they were probably about to be caught. Especially if that cruiser decided to turn around and come back if they saw the door open. He was an idiot for leaving it open… His heart was pounding as he rushed towards his bike, starting to push it out of the shop before he was jumping up to grab the top of the garage door and starting to close it. He was looking over his shoulder to see if that cruiser was coming back, and he couldn’t see it yet. Thankfully this particular building was surrounded by overgrowth and trees. He wasn’t about to keep loitering though.

She was curious. She couldn't help it even though she knew she should probably steer clear of this guy. He quite obviously did not like company, and she technically didn't even know his name. Cassie had mentioned two names that day she met her and Nolan, and he was clearly not going to share which one it was. That was fine, she didn't anticipate making this a habit.
Still, she continued to stand there and watch him work, honestly amazed at the control he had over the paint. Kit wasn't a painter by any means, and didn't draw anything besides cute doodles, but even she gathered it took a decent amount of control and concentration to get what you wanted with a medium like spray paint. Perhaps she shouldn't envy someone violating the law by decorating the walls of private property, but at least it wasn't the usual graffiti. Maybe that was why it intrigued her.
What was also a little endearing was to see how gentle he was with the cat. It was hard to consider this delinquent as scary as some people saw him after that. Something told her he'd brush this fact aside if she mentioned it.
When he finally spotted her, her back straightened a little, but she didn't bother to rush away like she initially might have. A voice at the back of her mind told her to leave, and leave him alone, but that curious and compulsive fox part of her wanted to taunt, even just a little bit. By the narrow of his eyes within that mask, it was clear that she was getting at least a little annoying.
She probably shouldn't have smirked, but she did.
Before she could try and figure out what this new painting of his was, Kit heard a noise. After a few seconds, Chogan was alerting her to the fact that they weren't about to be the only ones there. The cops.
Blue eyes went wide, because she really didn't want to start her first few days in a new town on the wrong side of the law. She hadn't really done anything wrong (not like he was), even if she had trespassed where there were clear signs that one shouldn't. Her parents would not like hearing this if she got caught simply for breaking into an abandoned building.
Muttering a curse under her breath, she shoved her camera into her bag and followed him, slipping out through the garage door before he began to draw it closed. Kit froze, her head tilting as she watched down that gravel drive. "It might be coming back..." she said quietly, more like thinking out loud. She could still faintly hear it and was trying to discern whether the noise was getting closer or farther now. The ambient noises of the woods was trying to drown it out.
Maybe this was when she was supposed to run.
