Rosalie didn't often go places without the other triplets; if she was alone, it was when she was at home, working on her own hobbies. But today she needed help, and she wasn't ready to talk to Riss or Rea about it. After all, what she'd done was a betrayal of the loyalty they'd all sworn to each other so long ago. She was a traitor. And worse than that, she'd managed to get knocked up, too--ruining not only her own reputation but dragging her sisters and Jalen into her soon-to-be raging dumpster fire, too. They were sure to be as furious with her as she was with herself. And for good reason. Rose was scared and more alone than she'd ever been. She couldn't talk to her parents either, that would be a death wish. So she went for the one person she could trust not to hate her after this--her big sister, Max Potter. She knew better than to think Max would hold this against her. At the most, she'd be disappointed in her. But wasn't that almost worse? Just thinking about it made her chest ache. Still, Rose was desperate to have someone on her side, and she knew she could rely on Max, no matter what. She'd waited for her sister to get off her shift, and when Max had finished hanging her apron in the back and clocking out, Rosalie was waiting by the back door with a coffee for each of them and a nervous smile. "Hey! I was, um, hoping we could talk." She held out the mocha drink with extra chocolate syrup as a peace offering. "D'you think we could head home together, so I can pick your brain a little?"

It was a looooong shift to say the least, and Max was ready for it to end. Doing doubles was not a fun thing, but it provided extra cash and for what she was saving for, she needed all the money she could get. And not borrowing said money from her parents. Not that she thought they'd have any issues with loaning it to her, it was merely the fact she didn't want to see the look of judgement on her mothers face, or hear dad go "Now Maxine, are you sure you've thought about this?" When she finally did tell her parents and the rest of the family, she hoped to already be 100% invested and reaching the point of no return. This way they couldn't talk her out of it.
She was ready. Or so she thought she was...
After telling Mason good bye and good luck on the evening shift, she'd hung up her apron and changed out of the aweful uniform that the waiting staff at the Full Moon diner had to wear. the old fifties style was cute on the outside, but seriously. Max felt like she was wearing a costume half the time. Dressed in a pair of black skinny jeans, and a white tank top, paired with a pair of well-worn converse, Max's auburn hair was pulled back out of her face. The short strands barely fitting into the nubbin of a ponytail.
She slung her back over her shoulder and headed out the back, humming to herself when she was greeted with a surprise. Her bluish-green eyes lit up almost instantly at seeing one of her baby sisters, and she grinned widely at seeing Rose. "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeey, this is a surprise!" She exclaimed. She took the offered coffee without hesitation as the door to the diner closed and she took a sip. Reveling in the taste of the mocha and chocolate. She glanced Rose up and down, arching a brow slightly while she sipped the drink. She wanted to talk?
"What'd you do?" She asked automatically out of habit. Coffee as a peace offering, waiting for Max after work, asking to talk? All red flags that Rose had either done something, or really did need advice. Max was literally old enough to be the triplet's mother, considering their own parents had had Max very young, and she knew her little sisters far better than they probably realized. And in some cases, Max had been more of a mom than their own mother. Max moved to Rose's side, looping an arm loosely over her shoulders as she started to walk to where Max's little volts wagon bug was. "I should say, is this a convo for the big house, or d'ya want to head to my place? I gotta let Duggy out." Thinking of her golden retriever that was in his kennel back at her apartment.

Rose laughed at the question, but Max could probably hear the sour note in her baby sister's voice. She didn't answer the question. She followed lamely behind Max on the way to the beetle, sipping her coffee to cover the silence. She couldn't even taste it.
"Your place, please. It's… It's bad, Max," she answered as she hovered with her hand on the handle of the passenger door. She looked at Max over the roof of the car, and her green eyes were pleading for her big sister to take her at her word. She needed to spill this. She was about two minutes from bursting into tears, too, and she wanted to be on the road where no one would be able to see her clearly before she lost it.
She'd been planning to lay out the story like it was all about someone else. Like someone she knew from school had been the one to do all this stupid shit. But now that she was the guilty one, she wasn't feeling so sure about whether she liked justice or not. She just wanted someone to tell her it was going to be okay.
"I really fucked up."

As Max and Rose walked to the bug, the older redhead could sense the change in Rose with each step. Something was wrong, this wasn’t a conversation was over something dumb. It was serious, and Max started to get anxious. Why would Rose come to her about it? She was probably the most rebellious, irresponsible, wild child of the Potters, or had her baby sisters forgotten? Though they had only been three when she graduated highschool… Maybe they were lucky the had missed out on Mad Max.
But the rebellion had followed her into her adult life, and unlike what mom and dad wanted, Max hadn’t found a rich guy to marry, she didn’t go to a ivy league school. No she was the disappointment, and it was maybe that reason why Rose was coming to her now.
Was one of the triplets about to break her record on the shit list?
As they got to the car, Max looked over the hood and frowned at Rose, looking at her cautiously. “Ooookay,” She drew out, unlocking it before she opened the door and got in. She put her coffee in the cup holder, and then put the key in the ignition. She turned the radio down so it wouldn’t drown out Rose, and then she started to put her seatbelt on.
Her hands froze on the steering wheel as she looked over at Rose, her brows furrowing in confusion. “What do you mean you fucked up? What did you do Ro?” Max asked, the concern was now clear in her voice as she glanced over her shoulder and started to back out of her parking spot, and out of the diner’s parking lot. “Are you in trouble? Did something happen?” She asked, her own anxiousness beginning to show in her voice, while Max’s eyes flickered over to look at Rosalie.

Rose clutched her coffee tightly in both hands, keeping her eyes on the straw instead of her sister's face. She wasn't ready to see the look she was about to put there. She knew Max had been a bit wild back in school, but this was way beyond a little underage drinking.
“Are you in trouble? Did something happen?”
This time Rosalie's nervous laughter was bordering on hysterical. "All of the above." Fuck, where did she even start? This was such a mess. She was ruining everything. No, not ruining. She had already ruined. It was done.
She took a shuddering breath and forced herself to let it out slowly through pursed lips before she tried to get started.
"So, you know Rea's boyfriend, Jay? Jalen, I mean? I--um. We. We, ah… We hooked up, at a party a ways back. It wasn't supposed to happen but--I just, I liked him before she ever started dating him, and he's a good guy and that damn smile and--" She cut off and sighed, realizing she was making excuses. She spent a moment clicking her tongue as she tried to find the right words to share the rest.
"We...we didn't use protection. And um. I…" She winced, her whole body tensing as if she was bracing for a blow. "I'm pregnant. I took three kinds of tests, they were all positive."
There, it was out. But she'd broken it all up. She needed to be clear. She'd think of it like a legal case, one she was laying out against herself. She could even hear the judge's gavel. Guilty!
"I slept with Rea's boyfriend and I'm pregnant with his baby. I haven't told him, Rea doesn't know that we even hooked up, and mom and dad are going to have my head."
"Oh, and, I ruined my chances for law school and the FBI. Done. Gone. Poof." She laughed again, but it turned into a sob as she brought one hand up to press against her forehead. She leaned her head back into the headrest. "I fucked up so bad, Max. Everyone is going to hate me."

The nervous laughter was NOT making Max feel any better. All the above? Shit, Ro what did you do??? She wanted to further prod, but decided to just let her sister explain.
As Rose began, Max started to nod along. She knew aaaaallll about Jalen. Reagan’s perfect boy, who she had a plan for. Reagan was always one that had a plan. Medically, she needed one to properly function as she had been diagnosed with OCD.
Max’s hands tightened on the steering wheel as Rose continued, not taking her eyes off the road as Rose said she and Jalen had hooked up. Her eyes flickered over to her, shock there for a brief moment. Oh Reagan was going too…
But then Rose said the words that had Max sharply inhaling, and she looked back over at Rose. “Your What?!” She blurted, looking quickly back at the road. Max felt a cold chill run down her spine, as she imagined what Rose was going through. It didn’t take much imagination. Max knew what Rose was going through. She hit the breaks a little too hard as they came to a red light, and Max stared straight ahead. Her pale complexion turned even paler as the color drained from her face. Her mind going a million miles a minute, as a series of emotiones flickered across her face.
Her eyes flickered up to the review mirror, and then back ahead. Letting silence fill the car for a moment before the car rolled forward, and she was quickly taking a u-turn. Not heading in the direction of her apartment. She clenched her jaw, and then took a deep breath while she tried to gather her thoughts. “No, they’re not.” She all but growled. Her lips were pursed. “Disappointed, but they won’t hate you.” She clarified. “Rea’s going to be furious. More than that, she’s going to be hurt, and you need to accept that now. Right now Ro." Max turned her head to look at her, before looking back ahead. "Your relationship with her is going to change at the moment, but it’ll come around at some point. Time. You gotta give her time.” Max started to tell her. Not something Rose probably expected, but she needed it off her chest.
She quickly pulled off the street then, parking on the curb before she turned to Rose, taking the coffee from her hands and putting it down before she all but glomped herself onto her sister in a fierce hug. “I don’t hate you Ro. Yeah, I’m disappointed, but you’re admitting your mistakes.” She murmured into her hair. She placed her hands on Ro’s shoulders and then leaned back, a shimmer of moisture was in Max’s eyes as she looked at her. “You aren’t alone okay? I’m here. I know it’s scary.”

Rose sniffled helplessly, listening to Max insist that everything was going to change, but that she'd be alright. God bless Max, Rose had been right to choose her to go to, first. Max was the only person she could think of who wouldn't just throw her out of the car the second she stopped talking.
“Rea’s going to be furious. More than that, she’s going to be hurt, and you need to accept that now. Right now Ro."
Ha. Accept it? She had done that the second she realized what was going on. Reagan might never speak to her again, and it was her own damned fault. She deserved whatever Rea decided to throw back at her.
"Time. You gotta give her time."
Time was the thing she felt like she was running out of! All the rest of her time had just been taken up by a child. A living thing who was going to need food, and a place to sleep, and diapers, and love... How was she going to do all that? She wasn't even paying for that stuff for herself!
Max pulled off the street and parked on the curb, then plucked the coffee out of Rose's hands. She'd hardly realized she was still holding it, and the loss caused her to turn her tear-streaked face to her sister in surprise, less than a second before Max dragged her into a bone-crushing hug. She returned it just as fiercely; she was violently grateful for her sister's love. Max pulled back, and Rose wasn't quite ready to let her go, but she did it anyway, wiping away the mascara streaking down her face with her hands.
“You aren’t alone okay? I’m here. I know it’s scary.”
"Scary might be an understatement," Rose answered with a weak laugh. "I have no idea what to do. I'm not going to be able to keep it a secret forever. Jalen didn't sign up for this--his dad might kill us both, actually. And I'm going to have to go back to school in the fall looking like I swallowed a beachball. Riss and Rea aren't going to want me hanging around, and I know the other kids won't either. We treat them like crap. And even if I do make it through the school year, I can't go to college with a baby. I'm going to need a job..." She took a deep breath to keep herself from crying harder. "I just, I don't know how you can be so positive about it. I can't see any good way out."

Max stared at Rose with a deep valley of concern on her face as she started to say all the things Max had thought once upon a time during her senior year of highschool. Unlike Rose however, Max’s pregnancy had been a winter break fling when the school took a trip up to Willamette Pass for the weekend as a school trip.
Unlike Rose...Max had never told anyone save for the father. She didn’t have anyone to go to, and Max was suddenly very grateful her sister had come to her first. “Rose, I’m not being positive about it. I know what you’re going through. I’ve been there.” Max told her with a sudden quietness to her voice. It was the bombshells of all bombshells, but if she was going to help her sister then Rose needed to understand Max. Understand she had options. “I’ve never told anyone.” She admitted, sitting back in her seat, grabbing her coffee as she sipped on the straw. Focusing on the sweetness of it and the cold it left on her tongue.
Her green eyes flickered over to her sister, and she reached out to hold a hand out to her to take where she’d then squeeze her hand. “Unlike me, you have a support system sis. It just doesn’t feel like it right now.” She said, trying to be reassuring. “You have options though, you know that right?” She asked her.

Rose's face went blank. Sorry what?" she wanted to yell. Max had been pregnant when she was Rose's age? But with who? How had Rose never heard this? How in the hell could it be a secret? Max could probably see the gears turning in Rosalie's head and smoke was about ready to start pouring out her ears when she overheated the works. This was insane.
“Unlike me, you have a support system sis. It just doesn’t feel like it right now.” She said, trying to be reassuring. “You have options though, you know that right?” She asked her.
She squeezed her sister's hand in return, although she still felt like she was in shock. She had a support system? Was one sister who wouldn't push her in front of a bus really a 'system'? And what were the options? Was she suggesting that Rose get an abortion? She'd always promised herself she'd never do that. Even though she fully supported other women's right to choose, and she'd gotten in arguments about it at school, she didn't want to do that herself. She'd always thought she would be careful. That she'd wait to have children (two, a boy and a girl) when she was in her thirties. Clearly, that plan was up in smoke. Maybe her promise should be too.
"I...I don't think I want to...to end the pregnancy," she confessed, her voice quiet as if she was worried Max might be upset by the answer. "I guess, I could give the baby up for adoption. Little babies get adopted faster, right? It wouldn't have to be in foster care? I know the system is awful, I wouldn't want to do that to anyone."

It was a lot all at once. Max knew that, and even though it didn’t feel like it, Rose did have time. She just didn’t know it yet, but she would. A small smile appeared on her face, and Max squeezed her hand back in turn. She wasn’t going to get mad at Rose for not doing what she had done. At the time, that choice had been the best choice for Max. Rose was going to have to figure out the best choice for Rose.
“It doesn’t seem like it at the moment, but you do have some time Ro. You make the decision that’s best for you, and you don’t have to make that decision today. Today, you make responsible choices.” She told her, and then tightened her hand, and then nodded for her sister to get out. “C’mon.” Max popped the handle to her car door, and climbed on out, walking around the side to be at Rose’s side and wrapped an arm around her shoulders as she looked up at the building she’d parked outside of.
Haven Medical Clinic stood loud and proud, and Max kept a tight grip so her sister couldn’t runoff. She glanced down at her and arched a brow. “Let’s set you up an appointment to make sure you even are with special cargo.” She kept her voice down in case anyone was walking by. “I don’t trust those sticks.” She admitted. Besides, having a doctor confirm it, and making sure it wasn’t something more serious was important. “I’ll be with you every step of the way,” Max told her reassuringly.
