[from the archived site] Derek pulled from that milkshake as he took the young woman in. He had to admit the conversation was at least nice. He would never admit it but the road was lonely after a time. Some people preferred it, but in his profession sometimes backup was nice or at least having someone there with you. His mind wandered to the Graves brothers for a moment, wondering how they were doing before his attention went back to Mason who was telling him about the B&B. “Nah, I got a camper. Probably park it outside my old man’s place and call it good.” He told her, waving it off. “Only will be in town for a little bit. He’s been rather adamant I come to visit for a while.” He voiced. He sucked on that milkshake some more, and a look that read “I know something you don’t,” crossed his face. “You already know him. One of the oddest people in town?” He said implying who his connection was and that they’d already spoken about him once tonight. He set the milkshake down and crossed his hands over his stomach as he leaned back a bit on the stool. “No offense taken by the way, he’s always been odd. You were pretty spot on.” He told her, a sly grin appeared behind that beard and mustache. mason
